HAIGER/WEGBERG - As a manufacturer of switchgear in the medium voltage range, quality has top priority at Driescher-Wegberg. This is why the company relies on CLOOS technologies for automated welding. "By using the robot system with the CLOOS RoboPlan software for offline programming, we were able to further increase the welding quality and at the same time significantly reduce the production time," says Horst Heinrichs, Head of Prefabrication at Driescher-Wegberg.
Fritz Driescher KG has been building products for switch and system construction in the medium-voltage range since 1909. More than 2,000 patents in various areas testify to the company's high level of innovation and performance. The products fulfil the highest requirements in terms of safety, functionality and cost-effectiveness. More than 300 employees work in the areas of development, design, sheet metal processing, powder coating, assembly and administration at the company's headquarters in Wegberg, North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition, there are subsidiaries and branches worldwide for service, maintenance and repair.
Robots for maximum production flexibility
The company is characterised by a very high level of vertical integration and is actively promoting automation in all areas. Driescher-Wegberg has been using a CLOOS robot system for welding housings for switch systems at its headquarters in Wegberg since 2015.
"Our customers' requirements in terms of quality, delivery times and flexibility have increased significantly," explains Heinrichs. "As a rule, we deliver within eight weeks, but in the event of an acute power failure at the customer's premises, we sometimes have to react at short notice within one to two days."
The switchgear is modular in design and can be customised. Driescher-Wegberg responds flexibly to special customer requirements. Due to the large variety of products, small batch sizes are usually manufactured.
