Start of training at CLOOS 2023

15 young people start in 7 different professions

HAIGER, August 2023 - The new training year at CLOOS began on 15 August: The welding and automation specialists welcomed 15 new apprentices and gave them a warm welcome to start their careers. CLOOS trains apprentices in various professions at its headquarters in Haiger. This year, four prospective electronics technicians for industrial engineering, two industrial clerks, one industrial mechanic, four mechatronics technicians, one technical product designer, two cutting machine operators and one warehouse logistics specialist are among the new trainees.

On their first day, the management welcomed the new trainees together with the HR and training managers and the works council. "I wish you lots of fun and success with your training! CLOOS offers cool high-tech products and you can rely on the best possible support from all areas. You are the future - make something of it," said CLOOS Managing Director Alexander Veidt. With insights into his report booklet and a few anecdotes from his own time as an apprentice, he tried to take away some of the young people's initial excitement.

From secondary school leavers and high school graduates to university graduates from Ukraine - the careers of the new trainees are as varied as their chosen professions. They are all united by their enthusiasm for the company and the CLOOS products, which became clear during the round of introductions. Some of the trainees had already been able to get a taste of CLOOS as part of a school internship.

"Well-founded training of skilled workers is extremely important for us as a high-tech company," emphasised Andreas Schmelzer, Head of Industrial-Technical Training. "We are delighted that training at CLOOS has a good reputation in the region."

A varied programme awaited the new trainees during the induction week: Firstly, there was general information about starting a career at CLOOS. They also familiarised themselves with the company divisions and contact persons during a tour of the company. One highlight of the induction week was the team event on the Bigge, where the trainees were able to demonstrate both their manual skills and their ability to work in a team by building a raft together. They also enjoyed a sporty hike through the local woods. The joint barbecue with all the trainees rounded off the induction week. This was an opportunity for the career starters to get to know each other better across all courses and professions.

After the induction week, the basic metallurgical training courses for all new apprentices will start in the CLOOS training workshop. They then pass through various departments in order to optimally prepare them for their professional life.

The application process for an apprenticeship in 2024 is already underway. "We always invite all applicants to the recruitment test," says Dunja Fiedler, Head of Commercial Training. "We want to challenge and support young people in the best possible way." The Apprenticeship Plus concept also gives young people with an intermediate school-leaving certificate the opportunity to obtain their university entrance qualification at the same time as completing their apprenticeship. CLOOS also focusses on combining university and practical experience and offers the Studium Plus programme together with the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM).
